場所:Barrack’s Block rear exterior (facing lower courtyard) AND Room 106, Barrack’s Block

Known for his eye-catching archi-contemporary art installations, Japanese artist Takafumi Hara presents his first building installation in Hong Kong at DETOUR 2010. Hara’s working process involves extensive interviews with neighborhood residents about topics relating to history, memory, and society. Through these interviews Hara constructs a verbal portrait of the area and weaves quotations from the interviews into brightly themed paintings.
At DETOUR 2010, Hara will present a building installation in two locations -- the rear of the Barracks Blocks as well as the Old Bailey Street entrance corridor, and will mount a small painting exhibition in 2 classrooms.
Takafumi Hara is a lecturer at Tama Art University in Tokyo, has been featured in the Havana Biennial (2009), Singapore Biennale (2006) and is included in various private and public art collections.

Pick Me Pink Me Workshop
Takafumi Hara will host his “Pick Me Pink Me” workshop encouraging all members of the Hong Kong community to come forward and write their own message to be shared throughout DETOUR 2010. Participants can stop by the workshop to write their message on pink poster board; their photograph will be taken in front of the pink backdrop and then added to a digital slideshow of photo messages from all participants. Through the workshop, DETOUR 2010 visitors and local residents will create an intimate and immediate portrait of Hong Kong’s community.
